XENO OBJECTS LAUNCHES ITS FIRST FURNITURE LINE: KLOM Gives Innovative New Form to Bamboo

Xeno Objects, a new company dedicated to creating innovative design, is pleased to unveil its first collection of furniture. Joining the company’s inaugural Nung chair—which was selected from thousands of entries for the prestigious RAW: The Next Generation special exhibition at New York’s 2004 International Contemporary Furniture Fair—these new pieces include a coffee table, end table, and stool which, along with the Nung chair form Klom.

Klom, which means “circle” in Thai, is inspired by natural materials, craftsmanship and pared-down aesthetic of Southeast Asia, where designer and company partner Jared Huke lived for four years. Like the Nung chair, all Klom pieces are constructed of concentric rings of bamboo—a sustainable material—that’s sealed with an environmentally-friendly epoxy. The Klom product line is made using local and time-honored techniques at a family-owned workshop in Thailand. All designs are formed by a clean, organic aesthetic that transforms stacked bamboo rings into curvaceous, dynamic forms. Indeed, bringing together a centuries old traditional craft with state-of-the-art technology. Klom merges the old and new with results that are decidedly contemporary. Special orders are available.
